Job summary

Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is seeking an on-call Stationary Engineer 2 to support Eastern State Hospital and Lakeland Village in Medical Lake. You will operate, monitor, and maintain high- and low-pressure boilers and related systems to ensure safe and continuous operation.

Initial training is full-time for 6–8 weeks, followed by an on-call schedule that may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Interviews are in person.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience operating, maintaining, and/or repairing stationary or marine high-pressure boilers and heating systems.
• Advanced Stationary Engineer course required with two years related experience or Washington State service as Stationary Engineer 1.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain high- and low-pressure boiler plants safely and efficiently.
• Monitor and repair boilers, gauges, valves, metering pumps, and electronic control and safety equipment.
• Operate auxiliary boiler equipment (feedwater pumps, condensate pumps, deaerators, air compressors, fuel oil pumps).
• Troubleshoot boiler operations and combustion control systems (Weishaupt, Siemens, Patterson-Kelley NURO, SCADA, Metasys).
• Read schematics, drawings, and equipment manuals.
• Test boiler equipment and safety systems.
• Perform boiler-water and condensate treatment, cleaning, and blow-down operations.
• Respond to after-hours, weekend, and holiday issues and notify Plant Manager.
