Job summary

Pierce County is seeking an Extra Hire Equipment Technician in Tacoma to perform maintenance and repair on gas and EV powered vehicles. The role requires attention to detail and physical stamina for a demanding, on-site environment.

Applicants should have an ASE Master Technician certification or journeyman status, plus four years as an assistant to a journey level mechanic and a valid driver’s license. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• ASE Master Technician certification is required.
• Journeyman status in Automotive Machinists’ Union is required or equivalent.
• Four years of full-time experience as an assistant to a journey level mechanic preferred or required.

Responsibilities

• Perform progressive preventative maintenance on gas and diesel powered vehicles, trailers, and associated equipment.
• Perform full range of maintenance and repair functions on gas and diesel powered vehicles, trailers, and associated equipment.
• Repair light duty transmissions, rear end assemblies, electrical units, brake systems, fuel and other mechanical systems.
