Job summary

Washington Department of Natural Resources is seeking an Automotive and Equipment Technician 3 to perform maintenance and repairs on the fleet of vehicles and grounds equipment. This role is critical for ensuring reliable operations in Washington State Parks. The position is permanent with a supportive working environment and competitive pay.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with both gas-powered vehicles and heavy equipment, along with a valid driver's license. The position requires physical presence and is not eligible for telework.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of journey-level experience diagnosing and repairing vehicles and heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and complex service manuals.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems and vehicle diagnostics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, inspection, and repair of WA State Parks fleet.
  • Order replacement parts and meet with sales personnel as needed.
  • Operate hand tools and equipment to perform repairs.

Skills

Ability to operate state motor vehicles
Effective written and oral communication skills
Independent troubleshooting/repair ability
Proficiency with hand tools and power tools
In depth understanding of gas/diesel engines

Education

Associate's degree in Automotive and Diesel technology
