Job summary

WSP USA is seeking On Call Field Archaeologists to support projects across the southwest, Midwest, and southeast regions. You will help collect, identify, and document artifacts and data from field sites, contributing to studies that inform infrastructure projects and environmental stewardship.

Candidates should have an undergraduate degree in archaeology or anthropology and 5–7 years of related experience, with the ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology or a closely related field.
• 5–7 years of archaeological or anthropology-related experience.
• Experience leading field crews for Phase I/Class III pedestrian survey and shovel testing.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling artifacts, observational, spatial, and archaeological data from field sites for projects, investigations, and surveys.
• Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurement and documentation.
• Assist with performing basic professional archaeological work relating to cultural resources, assisting with verifying the characteristics of a site and providing entry-level technical assistance on various preservation and environmental issues.
• Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
• Utilize the latest archaeological methods, procedures, technologies, and techniques in performing studies and analysis of sites and potential impacts to resources of cultural and scientific significance.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources and conduct.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
