Eocene Environmental Group, Inc. is seeking an On-Call Archaeologist to support cultural resource projects across the Midwest region, with a strong focus on Illinois and Indiana.

This position offers remote work flexibility and is based in the Midwest, with preference for candidates in Kansas. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in archaeology or related field, proficiency in Midwest archaeology, site documentation, GPS and ArcGIS tools, and the ability to perform fieldwork including walking

Qualifications

• Holds a bachelor’s degree in archaeology, anthropology, or related field.
• Proficient in prehistoric and/or historic archaeology in the Midwest region.
• Proficient in documenting archaeological sites and IOs/IFs in the Midwest region.
• Organized, motivated, thorough, accurate, dependable, and trustworthy.
• Excellent navigational skills (GPS and compass) and ability to navigate and drive 4WD vehicles.
• Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors.

Responsabilités

• Serve as a Crew Member for the project.
• Conduct Phase I and Phase II cultural resources surveys.
• Document archaeological sites and IOs/IFs
• Conduct probing or shovel testing
• Use hand-held field technology (ArcGIS phone/tablet with sub-meter GPS receivers)
• Work in moderate weather conditions (temperatures, rain, snow)
• Walk 4-10 miles daily over rough terrain and lift up to 50 lbs
• Work independently and in a team
• Maintain regular attendance
• Follow instructions and feedback
• Uphold safety and company culture
• Comply with laws and company policies
