Job summary

WSP is seeking on-call, part-time Field Archaeologists for a Phase III data recovery project in the Midwest, centered in Kansas City, MO. The role involves fieldwork at multiple Pre-Contact sites, with potential for additional on-call work and future opportunities in Phase I–III projects across several states.

Local candidates preferred. Responsibilities include test unit excavations, feature excavation, artifact recovery and documentation, and working within a team while following health,

Qualifications

Undergrad degree in anthropology/archaeology or closely related field.
Archaeological field school or similar field experience.
Self-motivated and physically able to conduct fieldwork in all weather conditions; able to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

Assist with multiple Phase III data recovery projects (and Phase I/II as needed).
Conduct archaeological test unit and shovel test excavations; excavate cultural features.
Recover and identify artifacts and materials; document data using field forms (artifact type, soil color, textures).
Collaborate effectively as part of a field team; adhere to Code of Conduct and policies.
