Job summary

WSP is seeking an On-call, Part-Time Field Archaeologist to support projects in Louisville, Lexington, Kansas City, Ballwin, and Jefferson City. You will participate in field testing, pedestrian surveys, and documentation across federal, state, and commercial projects.

Ideal candidates have an undergraduate degree in archaeology or related fields, field school experience, and willingness to travel. This hourly position offers potential for long-term work and advancement based on workload.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or related field.
• Archaeological field school.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Location in the southeast or Missouri and surrounding states preferred; travel is required.
• This is an on-call, hourly position. Hourly rates are industry competitive based upon American CRM experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist field projects during all phases of archaeological testing (Phase I and II).
• Document findings through detailed note taking including Munsell soil descriptions and field forms.
• Assist in prehistoric and historic artifact identification and deposit documentation.
• Work as part of a team and adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs and travel.
