Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an On-call, Part-Time Field Archaeologist to support our Heritage and Cultural Resources team across Louisville, Lexington, Kansas City, Ballwin, and Jefferson City offices. The role involves fieldwork during various project phases, with travel and teamwork at the core of daily activities.

Qualified candidates hold an undergraduate degree in anthropology/archaeology and have completed an archaeological field school.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in anthropology, archaeology, historic preservation, or related field.
Archaeological field school.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Self-motivated and physically able to conduct fieldwork in all weather.
Location in Missouri or southeastern states preferred; opportunities to work in other states possible.
This is an on-call, hourly position with industry-competitive rates based on CRM experience.

Responsibilities

Assist with field projects during all phases of archaeological testing (Phase I/II).
Perform pedestrian reconnaissance, shovel tests, test unit excavation under supervision.
Document findings with detailed notes and field forms.
Assist in identifying prehistoric and historic artifacts and document deposits.
Work as part of a team and adhere to safety and conduct policies.
Travel as required and support additional responsibilities as needed.
