On-Call Doula: Birth Support & Coaching

Job summary

New Moms, Inc. in Chicago and western suburbs seeks a Backup Community-based Doula to support healthy pregnancies, promote breastfeeding, and build trusting relationships with families before, during, and after birth.

This on-call role requires availability for at least one week per month, including after-hours, weekends and holidays, as part of a rotating on-call team. Births may be attended in-person or via virtual support when needed.

Qualifications

• DONA training required; DONA Certification preferred
• Experience with vulnerable populations, preferably with early childhood through adolescent parenting, child/family development and urban issues
• Must be on-call for a minimum of 1 week per month including after hours, weekends and holidays as part of a rotating on-call team

Responsibilities

• Attends labor and deliveries to provide a supportive role for the laboring participant and her family and/or support person(s)
• Perform documentation of services provided in participant files, and internal and external electronic case management information systems if needed
• Responsible for being available while on-call to provide coaching over the phone and attending births in person or virtually when necessary
• Committed to developing further as a coach by participating in the New Moms Coaching Model, demonstrating growth in competencies defined by the agency
• Maintain Doula Certification if applicable
• Performs other related duties as assigned
