Job summary

Denver Health is seeking a birth/postpartum doula to support families on the labor and delivery and postpartum units. Doulas provide continuous presence, information, emotional support, and physical comfort before, during, and after childbirth.

Doula care extends into the postpartum period, supporting breastfeeding and emotional and physical recovery from childbirth. This PRN/Intermittent role requires completion of a doula training and certification and ICBD-certified status, with weekend

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Doula training and ICBD-Certified Birth Doula (DAA) certification required.
• Less than 1 year of doula experience or completion of training within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the inpatient birth team to identify patients for doula care (labor and postpartum).
• Model effective communication and support informed decision making.
• Provide non-medical comfort techniques for labor (positions, comforting touch, breathing).
• Support breastfeeding initiation and non-medical infant care questions.
• Support families during and after birth, fostering a respectful, culturally aligned experience.
