Job summary
BKF Engineers is hiring an on-call Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements, plans and permits. This role involves inspecting diverse projects, reporting to the Resident Engineer, sampling materials, and supporting field tests while maintaining thorough records of daily activities and observations.
Candidates should have a college degree or 5+ years in civil/transportation work, plus 4+ years of inspection experience and a valid
Qualifications
- College degree or 5+ years' work experience in transportation or civil projects.
- 4+ years supervising or inspecting engineering construction work with ability to read and interpret complex plans.
- Valid California Class C driver's license with acceptable record.
Responsibilities
- Inspects a variety of construction projects and reports findings.
- Advises Resident Engineer and informs contractors of variances from approved plans and specs.
- Collects material samples and assists in field tests.
- Checks utility locations to avoid interference with construction work.
- Assists in review of submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
- Maintains inspection records and daily diary.
