Job summary

BKF Engineers, Inc. is seeking an ON CALL Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. The role requires reading complex plans, evaluating earthwork, asphalt, concrete, and reinforcement placement, and maintaining thorough records.

Ideal candidates hold a college degree or 5+ years in Transportation/Civil projects and possess relevant CPII and ICC certifications. This position offers competitive pay and benefits in California.

Qualifications

• College degree or minimum 5 years of experience with Transportation or Civil related projects.
• 4+ years of experience supervising or inspecting engineering construction work, including reading and interpreting complex plans and specs.

Responsibilities

• Inspects a variety of construction projects and reports findings.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency PM and informs contractors of variances from approved plans.
• Takes samples, prepares test specimens, and assists in field tests or referrals to labs.
• Checks location of utilities to avoid interference with construction work.
• Reviews contractor traffic control plans and project safety.
• Inspects earthwork, asphalt, concrete, and reinforcing steel placement.
• Maintains inspection records and daily diary/photo log.
• Supports PM in submittals, RFIs, and CCOs.
