Job summary

WSP USA Inc. seeks Archaeological Field Technicians for field projects across Nevada, Oregon, and Utah. These are on-call hourly positions with pay based on education and experience, and include single-occupancy hotel rooms and per diem.

Responsibilities include conducting pedestrian and shovel test surveys, recording findings, and using ESRI Arc Field Maps and topographic data. Candidates should be able to work long hours in remote areas and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• One year minimum archaeological field experience
• Previous CRM field experience or academic field school
• Knowledge of equipment, technology, and paperwork used in recording sites and artifacts
• Ability to learn local cultural history and material culture in project areas
• Ability to work independently and plan/execute with minimal instruction
• Knowledge of health and safety standards
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work long hours in harsh environments and varying weather
• Effective communication with team members
• Pass drug test and maintain a drug-free environment
• Must pass background check and motor vehicle screening

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support with field techniques for locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating sites
• Support field surveys through pedestrian surveys and shovel test surveys
• Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, and ESRI Arc Field Maps GPS data collection software
• Work long hours in remote environments and in varying weather conditions
• Collaborate effectively with diverse groups
• Maintain a positive attitude, accept direction, and work independently when needed
• Plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction
