Job summary

WSP USA Inc. is seeking Archaeological Field Technicians for field projects in Nevada, Oregon, and Utah. These are on-call hourly positions with pay determined by education and experience. Single occupancy hotel rooms and per diem are standard.

The successful candidates will perform Class III survey work, support field surveys, and work in remote areas, often long hours, in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related discipline.
• 5–7+ years of archaeological field experience.
• CRM field experience or academic field school.
• Knowledge of equipment, technology, and paperwork used in recording sites and artifacts.
• Ability to learn local cultural history and material culture.
• Ability to work independently and plan assignments with minimal instruction.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work long hours in harsh environments and varying weather.
• Effective and respectful communication with team members.
• Pass a drug test and maintain a drug-free environment.
• Pass background check and motor vehicle screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support using field techniques for locating, testing, recording, mapping, and evaluating sites.
• Support field surveys through pedestrian surveys and shovel test surveys.
• Use topographic maps, aerial photographs, and ESRI Arc Field Maps GPS data collection software.
• Work long hours in remote environments and in varying weather conditions.
• Collaborate effectively with groups composed of diverse personalities.
• Maintain a positive attitude, accept direction, and work independently when needed.
• Plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction.
