Job summary

Omm IT Solutions is seeking an experienced SQL Server and PostgreSQL Database Administrator for an onsite role in Raleigh, NC. The position requires 7+ years IT experience, deep expertise in MS SQL Server on Azure, PostgreSQL, and related tools.

You will manage clustering, Always On, backups, migrations, and performance tuning, with on-call coverage as part of rotating shifts. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, data modeling skills, and the ability to document

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent; 3 years of progressive experience in lieu of education
• At least 7 years of IT experience
• 7+ years in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration
• Azure framework knowledge; MS SQL Server in Azure is essential
• Install, configure SQL Server; set up clustering; Always On AGs
• Capacity planning based on DB growth
• Expert troubleshooting in SQL Clustering and PostgreSQL
• Monitor, maintain and troubleshoot DB systems
• Data modeling, performance tuning in MS SQL and PostgreSQL
• DB upgrades and migrations SQL to PostgreSQL
• Manage data integrity and security (roles/permissions)
• Use SQL Profiler, tuning advisor, execution plans for tuning
• Generate traces, analyze deadlocks, resolve issues
• Backups, restoration, replication strategies
• SSIS/SSRS/SSAS; replication and CDC
• Regular DB refreshes; sync reporting environments
• Document DB infra with diagrams
• Learn business processes and data flow
• US citizens or authorized to work; sponsor not available

Job Description

Please Note:

• It is 100% Onsite Position.
• Candidate must be located within commuting distance or willing to relocate to Raleigh, NC
• Candidate must be available to work on a rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 support, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and on-call coverage.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education
• At least 7 years of Information Technology experience
• At least 6 years of experience in MS SQL server on Azure/PostgreSQL administration and maintenance
• Understanding of Azure framework, MS SQL Server in Azure is a must
• Able to install and configure the MS SQL Server, configure the SQL clustering, SQL Always On Availability Groups
• Able to do the capacity planning based on the growth pattern of the databases
• Have expert troubleshooting skills on the SQL Clustering environment and Postgres environment
• Monitor, maintain database systems and troubleshoot problems that may arise
• Strong Analytic skills, Data Modelling & Performance tuning in MS SQL server/PostgreSQL
• Perform Upgrade of databases to different versions of SQL and migration of databases from SQL server to PostgreSQL
• Maintain data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions of database users)
• Use tools like SQL Profiler, Database tuning advisor, Execution plans for database tuning and Index recommendations
• Generate traces, execution plans, identify performance issues, deadlocks/contention and resolve them
• Develop strategies and implement solutions for managing back-ups, restoration and replication
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS)
• Should be well versed with the SQL replication functions and Change Data capture process
• Ensure timely completion of the Databases regular refreshes keeping all the reporting environment in sync
• Create detailed documentation including diagrams of database infrastructure
• Learn relevant business processes and understand the data flow, criticality and dependencies

Preferred Qualifications:

• Worked on tools like Qlik Attunity, SolarWinds DPA and Delphix.
• PowerShell programming
• Backup and restore tools like EMC Networker, CommVault
• Planning and Co-ordination skills
• Experience of Mergers and Acquisitions will be an added advantage
• Good Communication and Analytical skills
