Overview
Onsite Database Administrator position located in Indianapolis, IN. This is a 100% onsite role. Candidate must be located within commuting distance or willing to relocate to Indianapolis and be available to work a rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 support, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and on-call coverage.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure MS SQL Server; configure SQL clustering and SQL Always On Availability Groups.
- Manage MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration and maintenance on Azure.
- Perform capacity planning based on database growth; troubleshoot SQL Server clustering and PostgreSQL environments.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot database systems; manage performance tuning and query optimization using tools such as SQL Profiler, execution plans, and index recommendations.
- Upgrade databases to newer versions and migrate databases from SQL Server to PostgreSQL; ensure data integrity and security (manage roles and permissions).
- Implement backup, restoration, and replication strategies; manage SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS).
- Utilize replication and Change Data Capture processes; ensure reporting environment stays in sync with database updates.
- Create detailed documentation including diagrams of database infrastructure; understand business processes, data flow, and dependencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Three years of progressive experience in the specialty may be considered in lieu of every year of education.
- At least 7 years of Information Technology experience.
- At least 6 years of experience in MS SQL Server on Azure and PostgreSQL administration and maintenance.
- Understanding of Azure framework; MS SQL Server in Azure is required.
- Able to install and configure MS SQL Server, configure SQL clustering, and SQL Always On Availability Groups.
- Able to perform capacity planning and database growth assessments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in SQL Server clustering and PostgreSQL environments.
- Monitor and maintain database systems; troubleshoot problems that arise.
- Strong analytical skills, data modeling, and performance tuning in MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
- Experience upgrading databases and migrating from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
- Maintain data integrity and security (manage database user roles and permissions).
- Experience with SQL Server tools such as SQL Profiler, Database Tuning Advisor, Execution Plans; provide index recommendations.
- Generate traces and execution plans; identify and resolve performance issues, including deadlocks and contention.
- Develop and implement backup, restoration, and replication strategies.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS).
- Familiarity with SQL replication functions and Change Data Capture processes.
- Ability to complete regular database refreshes and keep reporting environments in sync.
- Experience creating documentation and diagrams of database infrastructure; understand business processes and data dependencies.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Qlik Attunity, SolarWinds DPA, and Delphix.
- PowerShell programming.
- Backup and restore tools (e.g., EMC NetWorker, CommVault).
- Planning and coordination skills.
- Experience with mergers and acquisitions is a plus.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
