Job summary

Omm IT Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server DBA to join our on-site team in Providence, RI. The role focuses on MS SQL Server and PostgreSQL administration on Azure, with emphasis on data integrity, security, and performance optimization.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in IT, deep knowledge of SQL Server on Azure, and experience with SSIS/SSRS/SSAS, backups, and migrations. U.S. work authorization is required; relocation within commuting distance is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required; will consider 3 years of progressive experience in lieu.
• At least 7 years of Information Technology experience.
• At least 6 years of MS SQL Server on Azure/PostgreSQL administration and maintenance.
• Understanding of Azure framework; MS SQL Server in Azure is a must.
• Able to install and configure MS SQL Server, configure clustering, and Always On Availability Groups.
• Capacity planning based on database growth.
• Expert troubleshooting in SQL Clustering and PostgreSQL.
• Monitor and maintain database systems; troubleshoot problems.
• Strong analytic skills, data modeling, and performance tuning in MS SQL Server/PostgreSQL.
• Upgrade and migration of databases to newer versions; migrate SQL to PostgreSQL.
• Maintain data integrity and security (roles/permissions).
• Use SQL Profiler, tuning advisor, and execution plans for performance.
• Generate traces, identify performance issues; resolve deadlocks/contention.
• Backup/restoration and replication strategies; regular refreshes of reporting environments.

• It is 100% Onsite Position.
• Candidate must be located within commuting distance or willing to relocate to Providence, RI
• Candidate must be available to work on a rotating shift schedule to provide 24/7 support, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and on-call coverage.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education
• At least 7 years of Information Technology experience
• At least 6 years of experience in MS SQL server on Azure/PostgreSQL administration and maintenance
• Understanding of Azure framework, MS SQL Server in Azure is a must
• Able to install and configure the MS SQL Server, configure the SQL clustering, SQL Always On Availability Groups
• Able to do the capacity planning based on the growth pattern of the databases
• Have expert troubleshooting skills on the SQL Clustering environment and Postgres environment

• Strong knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and Analysis Services (SSAS)
• Should be well versed with the SQL replication functions and Change Data capture process
• Ensure timely completion of the Databases regular refreshes keeping all the reporting environment in sync
• Create detailed documentation including diagrams of database infrastructure

• Good Communication and Analytical skills
