**Position Summary**
This position requires reading blueprints, implementing operations on routers, programming, setting up, and operating OKUMA lathes. It may include other machine tools and processes. The role also involves training other employees in the setup and operation of machines as needed.
**Essential Functions And Responsibilities**
- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, Jaws, accessories, and materials.
- Program OKUMA OSP control to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
- Work with engineering to analyze problems for best solutions.
- Maintain a professional, safe, and clean environment by being punctual, following company policies, wearing safety glasses, keeping work area tidy, and following safety practices.
- Demonstrate teamwork by establishing effective relationships with managers, directors, and coworkers to achieve shared goals.
- Follow GSM Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform all other assigned tasks.
**Requirements**
**Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities**
- Minimum 3 years CNC lathe experience, Okuma OSP experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED; or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and ability to interpret graphs.
- Ability to understand and carry out detailed instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables.
