The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a senior CNC Machinist to support its prototype machine shop in Columbia, MD. The role involves machining precision parts for R&D tests supporting DoD ship and submarine systems development. The facility is equipped with HAAS and Okuma machines, using 4- and 5-axis CNC machines to fabricate parts with tolerances of +/- 0.001”. Responsibilities:

• Perform setup machining jobs on CNC vertical machining centers.
• Program and machine with 4- and 5-axis CNC machines across various materials.
• Set up, adjust, and operate machine tools, CNC machines, and advanced tools for precision machining.
• Program and edit 3-axis and 4- and 5-axis toolpath programs using Siemens NX, CAMWorks Pro, Fusion 360 CAM.
• Design and build fixtures.
• Understand G and M codes to program and edit CAM-generated programs.
• Select appropriate cutters and tool holders, understanding feeds and speeds.
• Operate a full range of machine tools in a prototype development shop.
• Maintain dimensional accuracy within +/- 0.001
