Job summary

Turner Construction Company seeks a design engineer to develop details for offsite manufacturing solutions using MCAD tools and to create precise 3D models and drawings for a range of manufactured products.

You will collaborate with internal teams and consultants, review designs for code compliance, participate in prototype testing, and help drive automation of routine tasks through scripting. A related degree and 5+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering or related field, with 5+ years in manufacturing or construction.
• Experience in prefabrication, manufacturing, or construction operations.
• Proficiency in MCAD software (Inventor, SolidWorks, CAD Mep, Rhino or similar).
• Familiar with Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, BIM360 or similar coordination tools.
• Basic scripting knowledge (Python, C#, VB.Net).
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams and with clients/vendors.
• Ability to read and interpret contract docs, drawings, and schedules.
• Project management and organizational skills for fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Design product details applying DMFA principles.
• Create detailed 3D models and drawings for offsite manufactured solutions.
• Develop into product SME for the xPL Product Development team.
• Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to refine design details.
• Review design compliance with codes and contract specifications.
• Participate in prototype testing and quality reviews.
• Coordinate with manufacturing and design teams to protect design integrity.
• Support Offsite Manufacturing and Preconstruction teams to apply products on projects.
• Develop and apply scripting to automate routine design tasks.
• Other duties as assigned.
