Job summary

Gulf Crane Services, INC is seeking an Offshore Safety Representative to promote a safe offshore work environment for construction, crane, and related operations. This role provides onsite safety oversight and ensures compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.

You will work with offshore supervision to identify hazards, conduct inspections, and lead safety meetings, trainings, and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years experience required.
• Experience in offshore oil and gas, marine construction, industrial construction, crane operations, mechanical services, or related environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and offshore safety practices.
• Knowledge of JSAs/JHAs, Permit-to-Work systems, LOTO, fall protection, confined space, hot work, and crane/rigging safety.
• Ability to identify hazards and recommend practical corrective actions.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound safety decisions in an offshore environment.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic safety reports and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily onsite safety support for offshore operations and projects.
• Monitor compliance with company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements.
• Identify unsafe conditions, behaviors, and work practices and ensure corrective action.
• Exercise Stop Work Authority when immediate safety concerns exist.
• Work with Superintendents, Supervisors, Foremen, and customer reps to address safety concerns.
• Promote a positive safety culture and participation in safety programs.
• Serve as a resource for employees on safety procedures and requirements.
• Participate in JSAs/JHAs prior to work and ensure hazards are identified.
• Verify workers understand scope of work, hazards, and controls.
• Conduct routine safety inspections of areas, equipment, and practices.
• Perform safety observations and audits as required.
• Inspect PPE and other safety equipment; ensure clearance of walkways.
• Document deficiencies and follow up on corrective actions.
• Monitor Permit-to-Work for offshore activities and ensure proper controls.
• Confirm PPE and safety equipment availability and use.
• Immediately report incidents and near misses; assist in investigations.
• Document findings and communicate lessons learned.
• Maintain safety records; report trends to management.
• Lead or participate in daily safety meetings and training.
• Assist with emergency drills and training; ensure personnel are trained.
• Maintain muster points, alarms, and evacuation routes; assist during emergencies.
• Maintain comprehensive safety documentation and reporting.
