Virginia Tech's Schiffert Health Center in Blacksburg is seeking an Office Service Specialist to support patient flow, verify eligibility, and maintain health records in a busy university medical office. Reporting to the Office Manager, the role is a 100% university staff appointment with a 40-hour work week and regular pay band, non-exempt overtime eligibility.

• Experience in dealing with the public. Experience in a medical setting with demonstrated basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer experience and knowledge desired.
• Knowledge of Virginia immunization requirements.
• Previous experience in a medical office setting.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ROLE:

1. 1)You'll be joining the Schiffert Health Center team; a departmentcentered on the health and well-being of our student population bycaring for them in their times of illness or injury.
2. 2) You'll be reporting to the Office Manager, in a regulartwelve-month, 100% university staff appointment.
3. 3) You'll serve in a multifunction capacity within the MedicalRecords/Receptionist office to ensure expedient and friendlypatient flow.
4. 4) You'll verify eligibility for services, compile, file, maintainand transfer student health records, and fulfill legal andaccreditation standards.
5. 5) You'll provide patient and visitor information and direction ina pleasant and efficient manner.
6. 6) You'll determine patient needs, and make appointments orimmediate referrals to clinical personnel as appropriate and enterdata as required for immunizations and medical records.
7. 7) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $39,000 -$42,700, along with a comprehensive benefitspackage which includes health insurance, paid leave,retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so muchmore!
