Job summary

Cox Automotive in Florida is seeking a Quality Control Body Repair Tech II to verify OEM quality on repaired and refinished panels after paint. You will inspect color match and texture, prep surfaces for buffing, and restore finishes according to SOPs.

Daily duties include inspecting for overspray, removing residues, and ensuring safe, compliant work practices. Prior buffing or body shop experience preferred; valid respirator fit test and paint certification required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 2-5 years buffing experience or body shop experience preferred.
• Valid respirator Fit Test.
• Paint Training Certification per HAPS 6H.
• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
• Ability to drive vehicles with standard and automatic transmission.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.
• Ability to lift 1-15 pounds.
• Manual dexterity and repetitive motion tasks.
• Vision abilities including color vision and depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Inspect refinished body panels for proper color match and acceptable finish texture, reporting issues to management.
• Prepare surface for buffing using proper finish sanding products and technique (per SOP).
• Restore refinish panels to OEM quality using rotary buffer and approved compounds/polishes.
• Inspect remaining surfaces for overspray and remove as needed.
• Remove and clean all residue from buffed panels and verify finish quality.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in Safety Excellence activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
