Biological Diversity seeks an Oceans Special Project Attorney to join its Oceans program. The attorney will litigate, research, draft, and advocate to strengthen marine wildlife protections, working with senior lawyers and partners on a two-year assignment.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree required.
• Bar admission in California or DC is a plus.
• Two to five years of civil litigation experience, environmental law preferred.
• Strong research, writing and oral advocacy skills required.
• Commitment to environmental protection and inclusion is essential.

Responsibilities

• Litigate under supervision of experienced attorneys, including oral argument.
• Conduct legal research and drafting of memos, briefs and filings.
• Administrative advocacy including comments on proposed rules and environmental reviews.
• Coordinate with partners to advance ocean policy reform and biodiversity protection.
• Develop ocean law expertise and contribute to communications and outreach.
