Job summary

Ocean Conservancy is seeking a Staff Attorney for Conservation Programs in Washington, DC (hybrid). The Staff Attorney will partner with program and Government Relations teams to translate conservation priorities into legal and policy actions on fisheries, endangered species, climate, plastics, and ecosystem protection.

Responsibilities include engaging in conservation litigation with outside counsel, contributing to rulemaking, and advocating across federal and state forums.

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with 5+ years of legal experience in marine conservation.

• Develop and lead legal strategies for conservation priorities with program and GR staff.
• Oversee regulatory engagement and litigation, coordinating with outside counsel.
• Draft and review comments, testimony, and proposed legislative language.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align legal positions with organizational goals.
