Job summary

Ocean Conservancy is seeking a Staff Attorney for Conservation Programs to translate conservation priorities into actionable legal and policy work. The role collaborates with program teams and Government Relations to advance litigation, rulemaking, and advocacy across federal and state regulators, with an emphasis on conservation outcomes.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of marine conservation legal experience required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated advocacy.
• Experience drafting regulatory comments, testimony or legislative language.
• Deep familiarity with federal marine conservation laws and administrative procedure.

Responsibilities

• Develop legal strategies for conservation priorities in partnership with program and GR staff.
• Oversee conservation-related litigation and coordinate with outside counsel.
• Draft and review comments, testimony and proposed legislative language.
• Coordinate with coalition partners' counsel to align legal strategy on joint advocacy and litigation.
