Job summary

Ascension's Dell Seton Medical Center in Austin, Texas, is hiring an Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide medically prescribed OT under supervision. This full-time role sits in Acute Care and supports patient care across the discharge planning process.

You will implement treatment plans, document progress, monitor responses, educate patients and families, and may oversee therapy technicians. Minimum requirements include BLS within 30 days and TX COTA credential within 180 days.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date.
• COTA credentialed with TX Board within 180 days of hire date.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct occupational therapy as prescribed, under supervision.
• Implement treatment plans and document patient progress.
• Monitor patient response and adjust goals with the OT.
• Educate patients and families on deficits and equipment.
• May supervise therapy technicians per regulations.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

Conduct medically prescribed occupational therapy under the supervision of an occupational therapist.

• Implement an established treatment plan using appropriate modalities. Document findings of patient progress. Seek consultation as necessary.
• Monitor patient's response to treatment plan. Communicate patient progress and possible goal revisions to occupational therapist.
• Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits. Provide discharge planning assistance and information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community support programs.
• May oversee the care provided by therapy 3-Technicians according to established regulations and practice standards.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credentialed from the Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.
