Job summary

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited school or educational requirements commensurate with graduation date
• Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state where you work; BLS for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association
• No experience required
• Intermediate computer skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
• Team may maintain annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications (e.g. DNV, CARF)
• Must provide care appropriate to the patient’s age and developmental needs

Responsibilities

• Interprets physician referrals and evaluates patient abilities and how they affect daily living
• Establishes care plans and implements treatment based on evaluation and goals
• Provides and/or fabricates assistive devices to improve independence
• Monitors outcomes and adjusts treatment plans as needed and reports to physicians
• Plans for discharge with home programs and teaching for patient/family
• Completes required documentation and adheres to billing and scheduling requirements
• Ensures safety and infection control measures are followed
• Participates in performance improvement activities and coverage planning
• May supervise occupational therapy assistants and students
