Responsibilities

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA, OTA) in Home Health provides occupational therapy to patients in their homes to restore their physical abilities. Duties are performed in accordance with policies, procedures, and the established plan of care.

• Follow all state laws governing occupational therapy in home care, adhering strictly to the treatment plan set by the supervising OT.
• Instruct and assist patients in evidence-based treatments within the scope of practice and legal regulations.
• Observe, record, and report patient responses and changes to the supervising OT, nurse, or physician. Coordinate care with the healthcare team as appropriate.
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and team members in therapy-related areas within the scope of occupational therapy assistance.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Current OTA licensure in the state of practice
• Current CPR certification
• Valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to reliable transportation
