Job summary

Temporal Technologies is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager, Observability Engineering to lead a scaling telemetry platform. You will own the roadmap for metrics, traces, and diagnostics across a multi-tenant environment, while guiding a high-ownership team through architecture reviews and live-site improvements.

You will partner with Product and Security to balance reliability, cost, and customer needs, and drive the open-source observability stack in production.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams that build and operate observability or telemetry platforms at scale.
• Strong background in production observability, including metrics, logs, traces, and alerting.
• 15+ years in software/infrastructure engineering with 7+ years of people management and live-site ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own observability roadmap, delivering reliability-driven features and cost-conscious improvements.
• Lead, hire, and grow a high-ownership team of engineers; guide design reviews and code quality.
• Own ingestion, storage, query, and visualization for high-cardinality telemetry across multi-tenant environments.
• Manage incident response tooling, runbooks, and postmortem-driven improvements for live-site reliability.
• Collaborate with product, SDK, and external customers to turn telemetry feedback into a roadmap.
• Own unit economics of observability, drive cost consolidation, and manage vendor relationships.
