Job summary

Orlando Health Physician Associates is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform patient care under the physician or APP in an ambulatory setting. Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable applicable work experience in a patient care setting).
• Must maintain current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
• If hired after Jan 1, 2015, maintain one of the listed MA certifications within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Accountable to management for operational issues.
• Communicate effectively with patients and family members.
• Collaborate with administrative and operations staff.
• Gather patient data through interview and observation.
• Assist patients and families with preparation for examination.
• Assist physician or APP during examination and procedures.
• Document treatments, procedures, and patient education in EMR.
• Schedule and coordinate specialty testing or consultations as needed.
• Process calls independently with professional judgment.
• Enter orders into the electronic medical system under provider direction.
• Adhere to policies and infection control standards.
• Maintain regular attendance per policy and federal/state standards.
• Provide age-appropriate patient care and participate in QA activities.
