Job summary

Piedmont Fayette Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery OR. You will handle instruments and maintain a sterile field while anticipating the surgeon's needs, under supervision of a registered nurse.

The role requires a Surgical Technologist program completion (or equivalent OR experience) and BCLS certification; NRP is preferred. This is a full-time night-shift position within Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Georgia.

Qualifications

• Education: H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Graduate from Surgical Technologist program required, or 1 year OR experience as Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist, or 3 years direct patient care in clinical setting.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required; NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment for obstetrical operations in the OR of the Labor and Delivery unit.
• Assist surgeon and maintain sterile field; provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications:

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
