Job summary

Piedmont Healthcare, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support obstetrical operations in the Labor and Delivery unit. You will handle instruments, anticipate surgeon needs, and maintain a sterile field under RN supervision.

Minimum requirements include a Surgical Technologist program graduate or equivalent, 1 year OR experience, and 3 years direct patient care; BCLS is required at hire, NRP preferred. Eastside Medical Center is part of the team.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program is required.
• 1 year of OR experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist is required.
• 3 years of direct patient care experience in a clinical setting is required.
• BCLS - Basic Life Support is required upon hire.
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during obstetrical operations in the Operating Room of the Labor and Delivery unit.
• Understand the procedure and anticipate the surgeon's needs.
• Ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and maintain the sterile field.
• Perform patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Responsibilities

Responsible for handling the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the obstetrical operations performed in the Operating Room located in the Labor and Delivery unit. He/she has an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. Performs patient care duties under the direction of a registered nurse.

Qualifications

Education

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required

Work Experience

• Graduate from a Surgical Technologist training program Required or
• 1 year previous operating room experience as a Surgical/Delivery Room Technologist Required or
• 3 years of experience providing direct patient care in a clinical setting Required

Licenses and Certifications

• BCLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Preferred
