Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an OB/OR Technician to support the perioperative team in the intraoperative period within Labor and Delivery. The role involves assisting the Provider and RN, maintaining sterile technique, and preparing instruments for procedures.

Responsibilities include room turnover, instrument counts, patient care, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe obstetrical care.

Qualifications

• BLS within 30 days (AHA).
• Certificate of Completion: Surgical Technology.
• CNA coursework completed within past 24 months or CNA experience.
• At least one nursing clinical experience.
• Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile environment with aseptic technique.
• Provides age-specific obstetrical patient care under RN supervision.
• Assists with organization and coordination of supplies and equipment.
• Maintains safe, orderly environment and adheres to hospital policies.
• Assists during operative procedures by preparing abdomen, draping, and passing instruments.
• Performs instrument counts with RN circulator.
• Supports room turnover and setup.
• Operates stapling device under provider supervision.
• Cleans and maintains equipment; flags items needing repair.
• Prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Performs patient support duties such as venipuncture, vital signs, and specimen handling under RN direction.
