Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in Cincinnati is seeking a Nursing Veterinary Assistant to join our clinical team. The proposed work schedule is Thursdays and Fridays from 7a-7:30p and every other Saturday and Sunday from 7a-7:30p (full-time).

You will supervise patients, assist DVM with assessments and procedures, perform in-house lab work, and provide client education on home care, medications, and recovery.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with calculations (drugs, IV rates, conversions).

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Collaborate with patient care team regarding treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
• Educate clients on home care, medications, and wellness for hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Perform in-house lab tests and prepare samples for outside labs.

We are looking for: Nursing Veterinary Assistant

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who canidentifypatient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters,assistwith recovery and client follow up and education.

Whatyou’lldo:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discusscasesand gatheradditionalinformation as necessary
• Partner with patient care teamregardingtreatment plans, clientcommunicationand nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limitedto:home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions)and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment,treatmentand procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• Prior veterinary experiencerequired,previousnursing or critical care experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to workadditionalhours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
