Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in Cincinnati, Ohio is looking for a Nursing Credentialed Veterinary Technician. In this role, you'll provide essential monitoring and care for hospitalized patients, collaborate with the veterinary care team, and educate clients on patient care.

Responsibilities

• Record and discuss cases during rounds.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize them.
• Partner with the care team on treatment plans.
• Provide client education on home care and medications.
• Assist DVM with assessments and procedures.
• Monitor and care for hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor anesthesia.
• Perform laboratory testing.

Position: Nursing Credentialed Veterinary Technician

Proposed work schedule: Monday and Tuesday from 7:00‑7:30 p.m. with alternating Saturday and Sunday from 7:00‑7:30 p.m. (Full‑time work schedule paid bi‑weekly).

Never a dull moment in the Nursing department! Our patients need constant supervision to ensure treatment plans are being executed. This department is perfect for someone who can identify patient distress and react accordingly, enjoys phlebotomy, placing IV catheters, assisting with recovery and client follow‑up and education.

What you’ll do:

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather additional information as necessary
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
• Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures
• Perform in‑house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing

Who you are:

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license required
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous nursing or critical care experience desired
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
• Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
