Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency and Nursing Veterinary Assistant in Manassas, Virginia. This role supports a fast-paced ER team delivering high-quality care in a collaborative environment.

You will assist DVMs, monitor hospitalized patients, perform anesthesia monitoring, and handle in-house lab work while educating clients on care and medications. Experience in emergency settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexible with work hours and able to work overtime when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information.
• Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions and medications.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside testing.

We are looking for:

Emergency and Nursing Veterinary Assistant

This position has an initial hiring range of $26.00 to $32.00 based off experience and skills.

What you’ll do:

Who you are:
