Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to join its Division of Nursing in Washington, DC. This leadership role supports the Director of Nursing, directs unit-based staff, and ensures holistic, patient-centered, quality care for patients and families within the assigned department.

Responsibilities include staff development, performance management, budgeting, safety and regulatory compliance, and promoting evidence-based practice while upholding MedStar Health's SPIRIT values

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field is preferred.
• RN licensure in DC or compact state is required.
• Leadership and management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops unit/department goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Maintains relationships across disciplines to ensure quality patient care.
• Conducts annual performance reviews and provides feedback for staff growth.
• Manages staffing and budget within the unit/department.
• Ensures regulatory, accreditation and safety standards are met.
• Leads quality and safety initiatives and patient care improvements.
• Collaborates with Nursing leadership on hiring and promotions.
• Oversees orientation and competency assessments for nursing staff.
