Job summary

MedStar Health seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing to join the Division of Nursing leadership. You will support the Director, oversee nursing and patient care delivery on a unit, and ensure culturally competent, safe, evidence-based care across transitions.

The role emphasizes performance improvement, budgeting, staff development, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to meet quality and regulatory standards, while guiding staff and maintaining the patient-first philosophy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program.
• Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of progressive nursing care experience with leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports and collaborates with the Director of Nursing to develop unit goals and ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Develops performance standards, evaluates staff, and manages performance improvement activities.
• Maintains staffing plans, budget oversight, and ensures safe, patient-centered care delivery across shifts.
• Leads safety initiatives, patient safety metrics, and quality improvement projects within the unit.
