Job summary

Galen College of Nursing is seeking a Simulation Technician to support and enhance simulation experiences for all learners in collaboration with program faculty to ensure quality student learning outcomes across programs.

You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot AV and simulation equipment, maintain documentation, and assist users in selecting instructional media. The role emphasizes adult learning principles and a safe, organized learning environment.

Qualifications

• Technical diploma or associate degree required.
• Affinity for a technical role (IT, A/V, Electronics/Computer building).
• Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to collaborate with diverse groups; attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate working knowledge of a range of common audio-visual and IT hardware and software.
• Provide general technical support and troubleshooting for the audio-visual and IT system.
• Set up, operate, and store audiovisual and IT equipment.
• Demonstrate safe and effective operation of the audio-visual system and simulation equipment.
• Set up, operate, store, maintain, update, and repair simulators, task trainers and other simulation equipment.
• Provide general support and troubleshooting for simulation equipment.
• Support Simulation Center users in the use of instructional media and equipment.
• Contribute to and maintain simulation equipment documentation.
• Demonstrate a general knowledge of adult learning theory.
• Support all aspects of the learning environment.
• Prepare the simulation environment to represent the clinical setting.
• Create moulage to model physiologic responses to the scenario events.
• Maintain stock control, ensuring adequate security and levels of consumables and equipment are maintained.
• Ensure preparation and storage areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly manner and comply with health and safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
