Job summary

Sweetwater Care is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead the Nursing Services department, directing clinical operations, staffing, and quality initiatives. You will collaborate with physicians, administrators, and the care team to plan and ensure compassionate, compliant resident care across units.

The role requires RN licensure, substantial supervisory experience in long-term care, CPR certification, and a strong knowledge of applicable health care regulations.

Qualifications

• Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing home, or other related health care facility
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to long-term care
• Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, and direct the Nursing Services department in accordance with state and federal laws
• Interpret and communicate policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor staff practices
• Participate in admission decisions and management team meetings regarding census and resident changes
• Evaluate performance of nursing personnel and implement discipline per policies
• Lead quality improvement activities (QAPI) and participate in committees as appointed
• Ensure adequate staff coverage, maintain cleanliness, and monitor resident function
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team, physicians, consultants, and community agencies to improve care quality
• Oversee nursing schedules, recruitment, hiring, and termination of nursing staff
• Perform rounds to observe residents and ensure nursing needs are met
• Promote teamwork, safety, and infection control practices
• May provide direct nursing care and act in administrator’s absence
