Job summary

Boston Public Health Commission seeks a nursing leader to organize clinical nursing activities within the Healthy Baby/Healthy Child program. You will direct and evaluate nursing practice and ensure care aligns with established standards.

The role emphasizes collaboration across disciplines and effective use of EMR and data systems. The position requires BSN, RN licensure, and at least 5 years of clinical nursing experience, including maternal-child health, with 2+ years in supervisory roles

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required, with possible substitution for substantial experience.
• Current RN licensure to practice nursing.
• Master's Degree in Public Health, Nursing, or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
• Minimum 3 years in maternal-child health nursing.
• Minimum 2 years supervisory/management experience preferred.
• Public health nursing experience including home visiting.

Responsibilities

• Organizes clinical nursing activities and directs professional practice of nurses.
• Evaluates performance of nurses via supervision, observations and written evaluations.
• Reviews nurses' practice to ensure program standards are met.
• Participates in recruitment, orientation and retention of staff.
• Develops nursing care plans to maintain quality aligned with protocols.
• Supports staff in enhancing clinical skills and education opportunities.
• Enforces program and personnel policies and coordinates operations.
• Identifies and develops in-service training for nursing and other disciplines.
• Acts as clinical representative to Healthy Start Systems and external partners.
• Uses EMR and databases to manage and improve service delivery.
• Promotes collaboration among HBHC team and external care providers.
• Provides reports to program stakeholders and supports equipment procurement when needed.
• Assists during changes in assignment and emergencies.
