Job summary

PORTHAVEN is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in leading licensed and non-licensed staff delivering care around the clock in a long-term care setting.

The ADON will assist in planning, developing, and supervising nursing services, recruit and train staff, oversee clinical operations, and ensure resident safety and rights while maintaining regulatory compliance and a respectful environment.

Qualifications

• BSN required and in good standing with State Board of Nursing.
• 3–5 years of nurse management experience, preferably in long-term care.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite and nursing documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DON in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff activities.
• Assist in development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff; participate in appraisals and discipline processes.
• Provide back-up for DON, RN and LVN staff; may provide direct resident care as needed.
• Oversee clinical operations, daily rounds, and monitor resident conditions; ensure safety and resident rights.
• Liaise with residents, families and physicians; attend or lead staff meetings as needed.
