Job summary

COONEY seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in directing licensed and non-licensed personnel delivering 24/7 care to residents. The role emphasizes planning, supervision, and policy implementation in a long-term care setting.

The ADON will recruit, train, and evaluate nursing staff, participate in performance appraisals, and act as DON backup. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and proficiency with Microsoft Suite are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a BSN preferred.
• Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain continuing education/licensing requirements.
• 3-5 years of nurse management, preferably in a long term care facility.

Responsibilities

• Assist DON in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff activities.
• Assist in development and implementation of nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff in collaboration with DON.
• Provide employee appraisals and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
• Oversee clinical operations including daily rounds and resident condition monitoring.
• Ensure resident safety and respect.
