Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist invites senior nursing students to apply for a nine-week Nurse Externship. This paid program provides hands-on experience in a clinical area under a registered nurse preceptor, preparing you for licensure as an RN.

Applicants should be in their final year of ADN or BSN, with BLS certification, and available to work 40 hours per week across a rotating schedule. Deadline: November 6, 2026.

Qualifications

• Senior nursing student entering final year with anticipated graduation Dec 2027 or May 2028.
• Enrolled in ADN or BSN program.
• BLS certification required (AHA BLS or Red Cross).
• Available to work continuous 40 hours per week for the duration of the extern program.

Responsibilities

• Participates in nursing process by providing direct patient care under RN supervision.
• Assists with admissions, transfers, discharges, and pre/post-procedure care.
• Performs assigned clinical procedures under supervision.
• Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment and clear communication of patient information.
