Job summary

WellSpan Health is offering a Winter Nurse Extern Program designed to provide hands-on clinical experience during winter break. Participants will complete at least 72 hours of paid clinical experiences with a 1:1 RN preceptor and will work varied shifts aligned with preceptor availability.

Open to senior nursing students who graduate in Spring/Summer, or Winter 2027, who have completed medical-surgical clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program.

Qualifications

• Must be entering/exiting a health profession education or a bachelor's/master's level client decision-maker and working within the United States.
• Must be competent in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Minimum education includes a high school diploma or GED and enrollment in an approved nursing program with two clinical semesters completed.

Responsibilities

• Provides information needed by the registered nurse to coordinate care and discharge planning.
• Provides basic nursing and personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, eating, and positioning.
• Assists in preparing and transporting patients for tests and procedures.
• Monitors patient condition levels and reports changes to the nurse.
• Performs selected nursing procedures per extern checklist.
