Job summary

HoustonTransitionalCare is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in supervising licensed and non-licensed staff providing round-the-clock resident care. The ADON will help plan, implement, and monitor nursing services, policies, and procedures, while ensuring resident safety and regulatory compliance.

The role involves staff recruitment, training, performance reviews, and acting as back-up for DON, RN and LVN staff; direct resident care

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing; state licensure in good standing.
• 3–5 years of nurse management, preferably in long-term care.
• Must maintain continuing education/licensing and good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret regulations and write reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; PCC knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, developing and supervising nursing staff activities.
• Develop and implement nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff; conduct appraisals.
• Back-up for the DON, RN and LVN staff; may provide direct resident care.
• Oversee clinical operations, daily rounds and monitor resident conditions.
• Ensure resident safety and respect; liaison with residents, families and physicians.
• Attend staff meetings and provide reports to the DON.
• Assist in design, implementation and evaluation of nursing systems; maintain resident rights.
• Maintain confidentiality; stay current with regulatory changes.
