Job summary

PACS in Houston, TX, is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to assist the Director of Nursing in guiding licensed and non-licensed staff across a 24/7 care environment.

The ADON will help plan and supervise nursing services, recruit and train staff, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards while delivering compassionate resident care and protecting resident rights. Collaboration with physicians and families is essential.

Qualifications

• BSN preferred; RN in good standing with the State Board.
• 3–5 years of nurse management in a long-term care facility.
• Active continuing education/licensing requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret regulations and communicate changes.

Responsibilities

• Assist DON in planning and supervising nursing staff.
• Develop and implement nursing services, objectives, policies and procedures.
• Recruit, hire and train nursing staff.
• Assist DON with employee appraisals and disciplinary actions.
• Act as back-up for DON, RN and LVN staff.
• Provide direct resident care as needed.
• Oversee clinical operations, including daily rounds and resident monitoring.
• Ensure resident safety and uphold resident rights.
• Liaise between residents, families and physicians.
• Attend staff meetings or conduct them when DON is unavailable.
• Provide reports and recommendations to the DON.
• Assist in design, implementation and evaluation of nursing systems.
• Maintain confidentiality; stay abreast of regulatory changes.
