Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Nursing Assistant for the Nashville area. You’ll provide direct nursing care under RN supervision, perform vital signs, assist with activities of daily living, and help implement care plans according to established policies.

You’ll document observations and support the preceptor with patient transitions and coordinating diagnostic prep. Position is located at Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown, with Day or Night shifts and PRN opportunities.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire; cert accepted by AHA or Red Cross.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program within 90 days of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care under RN supervision according to policies.
• Complete assigned nursing orders as directed by the preceptor, assist with ADLs and vital signs.
• Observe patient status, document and report observations to the preceptor or staff.
• Assist with care plan development by reporting test results and patient observations.
• Perform tasks including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Complete assigned nursing orders as directed by the preceptor, including assisting patients with activities of daily living and taking vital signs.
• Observe patient status and responses. Document and report observations to the preceptor or other appropriate staff.
• Assist preceptor with development of care plan by reporting test results and patient observations.
• Perform other tasks as assigned, including environmental services and preparing/transporting patients for diagnostic services.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High school diploma/GED required.
• Must be accepted or enrolled into a Nursing program upon date of hire/transfer and begin classes within 90 days of date of hire/transfer required.
