Job summary

The University of Akron invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Instruction to teach courses within the School of Nursing. This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position located in Akron, Ohio.

The appointee will deliver courses in-person, maintain student communication and records, and participate in curriculum development and program improvement aligned with accreditation requirements.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing and an unrestricted Ohio RN license.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
• Experience with in-person or online learning environments and instructional technologies.
• Knowledge of community health, nursing leadership, evidence-based practice, adult health issues or health promotion.
• Basic knowledge of a learning management system.

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned courses in the School of Nursing in person or online per approved outcomes and policies.
• Deliver in-person courses and provide timely communication, instruction, feedback, and support to students.
• Monitor student progression and identify at-risk learners; maintain records of grades and attendance.
• Develop and update course content, activities, assessments, and asynchronous materials.
• Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, and accreditation-related activities.
• Support RN‑BSN recruitment, retention, and progression; engage in committees and service.
• Maintain professional credentials and pursue ongoing teaching and learning growth.
